horse auctions

I used to love going to ponteland mart for the horse and tack auctions, I only ever used to bid on tack though as didnt have a trailer back then but now I do and I have an itching to take a gamble on something i feel sorry for and that i might be able to work with. Does anywhere local still do auctions? Only ones i seem to find are carlisle and york. Both are too far just to 'go and see'.

I think Carlisle and York are about it now. There was one at Hexham 3 years ago but it was just a one off. I used to like going to Ponteland sales too! I could fancy a trip down to York but it's a bit of way by myself.

Wonder why no one auctions horse round here now? I went to an auction at acklington once with some friends to sell a pony, also I bought one of my current horses from Darlington auction but I dont think they do horses there either now.
