we are thinking of changing to shavings this winter
looking into various sorts, found one called bedmax, which is the larger flake size, does anyone use this. how long to the beds look good for, is it easy to managed and how cost effective is it compared to other types or shavings and bedding

I use Bedmax now - swapped from standard sized shavings. We pay £4.90 a bale and my clean horse uses a bale a week, messy mare 2 bales. We have full beds and do a full muck out daily.

Have also tried, Aubiouse, Easibed, and one that was chopped straw/shavings mix

Personally I prefer Bedmax.

I used 7 bales to make a full bed in a 12x12 stable with a swept back front

Hi

I use bedmax shavings after having used traditional shavings for many years. I much prefer the bedmax and would never go back to the other shavings. I find them easier to muck out and longer lasting....1 to 1/2 bales per week.
