I'm sure this has been asked a million times, but I am in a bit of a dilema with regard to horse bedding.

I have pretty much always used paper bedding but I can no longer get it for a reasonable price. I therefore need to find an alternative.

All the stables have rubber bedding down and so I only cover half the stable with a bed of about 4-6 inches depth and banks around the side.

I have tried Bedmax which is okay but breaks down and becomes dusty.

I was looking at the cardboard stuff (Ecobed) I think but can't see how this wouldn't be dusty.

I have tried Aubios in the past but don't think it is that absorbent.

Can anyone recommend anything? The most important thing is that it isn't dusty and the horses won't eat it.

The horses are in for about 20 hours a day.

Thanks

Why do you think cardboard would be dusty? There is nothing breaking down so it does not become dusty.

I use cardboard in the same manner as you, for my one horse who is in for approx 10 hours a day I use 1 bale every 10 days!! It works out so cheap

I have just been ringing around local suppliers and Nedzbed comes out highly recommended, might be worth a go

and it comes with vetinary approval !!!

I use ecobale they are cheaper than ecobed im sure !!!

it is also better than shavings as soaks up the wee more x

Ecobed/bedexel is not dusty at all, it is the only bedding my horse doesnt cough with and it is a reasonable price.

I also find that after a while, shavings go that horrible nasty grey colour from the dust.
