Hello Guys,

How much on average is it for the following down in Devon as moving next month.

Straw - small or large bales?
Wood Shavings?

Thank you the help so I can budget would be much appreciated, horses have not lived in for a while, how many bales of shavings/straw does everyone go through a month on deep litter or straw??

Hi, I pay £20 for a large straw bale (wheat, barley or oat and the bales are D1000I think?) and £7 for shavings. Small straw bales around the £2.50 mark. As to how much you will use that will depend on how long your horse is in and how messy he is! I use straw and shavings with my lot, you would need at least 1 bale of shavings a week per horse but the straw would probably last you 3 or 4 weeks per horse so is the cheaper option.
