Not sure by what but last night arrived at the farm and my mare had a huge lump between her two front legs and another one just to the side on her leg (a lot smaller) ...

Shes fine in herself - usual fiesty self - eating fine etc .. Fed her with some bute ..

Was advised to pop a few allergy tablets in her feed this morning ... anyone heard of this? Does it work? ive not done but can get someone to do so this morning if it works?

Went up this morning - the front lump seems a little bigger and the leg one too ... again fine in herself and this morning you ca actually see where shes been bitten in both lumps - so washed with salt water and left her in the barn (she can go out if she wants as Ive left the door open) ...

Any advice? Just waiting for vets to open ...

I've a thin skinned horse who gets fist sized lumps every time a cleg bite her- vet recommended 30 (not a typo) piriton tablets twice a day for 5 days, then 20 for 5 days, then 10. Sounds a lots but it worked!

Bath with warm to hottish water, should come to a head, and will either burst or disappear no need for antihistamines, but if so, get vet to give a shot of dexamethasone, will reduce filling.
