Horse Behaviour -Research Questionnaire

Hi All,

I am a student from Brooksby Melton College doing a research project for behaviour as I have seen many behaviours and reactions as one caused a bad fall for me under a horse making me think for my project do we know what the horse really thinks did she/he feel the pain of being scared to?

This Questionnaire is about the horses reaction after a fall with injury and what reaction they had after.

Any answers would be great to prove my research into this subject and a great thank you for helping.


Q1,What fall and injury did your horse have?


Q2, Did you see a change in your horses Behaviour?*Yes or No*


Q3,How long was it after the fall or injury you noticed a change in your horses reaction? Example 1-3 days......


Q4,If your horses behaviour changed what did it show? Example: Does it spook more? Does it feel the same in pace or is it much quicker?



Q5,If you took your horse back to where you had the fall or injury was your horse relaxed or more alert than before?How did your horse react?




Q6,Did you have to re-train your horse? Example to get their confidence up? Or to get used to where they had the fall?




Q7, As the rider did you feel nervous taking the horse back to where you had the fall?



Q8,Is your horse ok now from fall and injury?

Q1,What fall and injury did your horse have?
Flipped over a hedge out hunting - various cuts, grazes and twigs in him. Nothing 'major' however, all superficial.

Q2, Did you see a change in your horses Behaviour?*Yes or No*
No

Q3,How long was it after the fall or injury you noticed a change in your horses reaction? Example 1-3 days......
Didn't have any reaction at all or difference...

Q4,If your horses behaviour changed what did it show? Example: Does it spook more? Does it feel the same in pace or is it much quicker?

N/a

Q5,If you took your horse back to where you had the fall or injury was your horse relaxed or more alert than before?How did your horse react?
Next time XC didn't affect him at all, same as normal.



Q6,Did you have to re-train your horse? Example to get their confidence up? Or to get used to where they had the fall?
No...it was more 'me' than him affected!



Q7, As the rider did you feel nervous taking the horse back to where you had the fall?
Yes - though wasn't the 'exact' place as we were just in a field out hunting, so just the same type jump.


Q8,Is your horse ok now from fall and injury?
Yes
