Horse Bit Fit Consultant

we got them in for clinics for our riding club. they were fantastic and made a huge difference to some horses. I got my two done and both were a lot happier in their new bits. I would always use them now for every horse on the yard.

I had the most awful experience with them, but it seems to have just been that one individual as I've heard good reports about the other consultants. The one we had must have been having a bad day as my two friends and I all had separate consultations that day with her and we all had a terrible experience with her.

James Cooling is excellent, sorted out ten yrs of ring he over the bit issues in half an hour and recommended a Damn good bridle too

Awful in what way?

She was just incredibly rude to all three of us. We had separate consultations so it's not as if just one of us had a personality clash with her - we were all appalled by her rudeness. So much so that we contacted her afterwards to express our concerns about our consultations and it really didn't go well. She was wholly unprofessional and left 3 people really quite cross. I will go on to say though, that from what I see on social media, this was an isolated incident and most people have had a good experience with the company.

can I ask how long ago? As when I phoned earlier this year I found that the card I had for the SW (I think) rep was someone who no longer worked for the company. I’d had the card so some time as went to a RC club talk, which was very interesting.

We had a talk with a lady from there at our local RC start of the year & I'd like to get her out for my youngster. Was all very interesting but have yet to have anyone actually look at my horses. Good to know it's mostly positive.

Please do report back.

The bit fit lady was knowledgeable, took the time to explain things and didn't rush. We tried different bits and bridles. The only negative I would say is that they push particular brands of bits and bridles. Having said that, with a healthy dose of skepticism I purchased the bit and my horse is going really well in it so far and I'm happy with it. I've not decided whether to fork out for a different bridle... at the moment my horse is going great in the old bridle and new bit (it is a hanging cheek snaffle so nothing overly harsh) so might stick with the old bridle.

I'm happy I did it, I learned a lot from her! Horse is happier and so am I :)

I have used them and was really happy with the service. I had tried several bits already and the one that we ended up with has transformed the way my mare goes, she is so much happier. I used Celina Harrison and she was absolutely brilliant.

I had Ali Boyle out a few weeks ago, and was happy with the service. She was good at explaining why she recommended the bit she did and why she was adjusting my bridle, and getting me to feel what she was feeling.

I already have a Horsemanship Saddlery bridle, so I didn't get that pushed on me. The other woman who had a consultation did end up buying a new HS bridle, but Ali was very clear about saying what alterations to her current bridle would work. I feel the fact that the consultants don't sell to you directly but refer you to the website lowers any pressure to buy. You can nod and smile and say, yes, of course you'll buy one, and then just not.

For the bit, Ali was perfectly open about telling me there was a Horsemanship Saddlery version, and also a Shires version at half the price.

I only rode in one bit and, looking back, I wish I'd pushed to try some of the other possibilities. However, there was such a dramatic improvement with the one I tried that I can't argue it wasn't worthwhile. Turns out, my horse CAN do a circle on the left rein! And can leg yield to the right!

I had a lady out, she was very good although I do find that all of the bit consultants I have heard of always recommend very expensive bits - Sprenger, Myler and the like. I felt a noticeable different in Jacob with his new bit, however with further riding I wasn't overjoyed with how he went in it (thankfully I hired it) so I have tried him in another mouthpiece which I am very happy with so far.

I learnt from it that he doesn't like a french link mouthpiece, that he is better in a fixed ring and that he needed another half an inch length of bit - so very useful, but didn't come out with the complete answer

I’ve had a bit fit consultation and am very pleased with the result. Ended up spending over £100 but hey ho.
The horsemanship bridle is lovely.

I found that the Horse Bit Fit consultant I had had bits of all different price points (from £10 to about £100), the one we ended up with cost around £30 and we had tried 4 or 5 by the end of the session. Incidentally, the most expensive one we tried had the worst effect for us!

Of the two bits I was recommended, one cost £20 and the other cost £35. I went for the £35, simply because I preferred the D-link to the eggbutt - the horse didn't care either way. Selling my old bit has more than covered the cost of the new one.

I would recommend the horse bit fit. Spent a long time with me and my horse and the bit recommended was about £36 and I have seen an improvement in his way of going.
