HI all, I've had my horse nearly 8-weeks now, he's a 4-year old sec D stallion (soon to be gelded). Was extremely under nourished when he arrived, so have been slowly feeding him up.

He is getting quite bad mannered and bolshy when being fed in the morning and night, nothing aggressive just very in your face and space and when you try to push him back he is just doesn't respond and if you become firmer and really firm (just stern voice and push him away) he literally wets himself and throws himself to the back of the stable.

When he has his feed he's lovely lets you move round him, put rugs on and off even pick up his bucket, move it etc.

Not sure if this is stallion thing, youngster thing or what?

Our youngster was a bit like that. He's learnt now that he doesn't get his feed until he's backed up a few steps. Does yours back up when asked and food isn't around?

HI, yes he does and will move around for whilst I muck out, he can be a little tail swishy at times when asked to move round etc but will do it and has never threatened to lift legs or anything.

I am going to have to go back to basics I think, read up on manners think I need the Kelly Marks book perfect manners - my old mare was very behaved on the ground my friends 3-year old could say back up and she would and it's something I took for granted, I need to re-educate myself I think.

Any advice would be great :-)
