Morning all, I'm after some advice about payloads. Looking to get a 3.5t but worried it's not going to be big enough. Would these be big enough for 2 15.2 welsh d? Biggest weighed 450 last time he was on a weigh bridge!
Be kind I'm a horsebox novice 😂

It would be fairly unlikely to get enough of a payload to be able to take two horses. Most 3.5t have about 1t, a few have about 1.2t. Some of the ones with the 1.2t will be lighter at a compromise of build quality although not all.

For some in sight in to what to think of for calculating payload, this could be what you'd be looking at with your two on:
Horses - 450+400 (guessing a 15.2 could well be heavier than 400 though) = 850kg
Fuel - 100kg
2 x average people - 65 x 2 = 130
Water - 50kg
Tack and other equipment - 100kg

So you're looking at 850 + 100 + 130 + 50 + 100 = 1230kg minimum payload needed

If you do find a 3.5t that says it has that payload then make sure you get it weighed on a weighbridge with you there and ideally with a full tank of fuel.

Thank you 😊

I wouldn't get a 3.5t if I regularly wanted to travel 2 X Welsh Ds.

Can you drive bigger than 3.5t?
You could then uprate to 3.9t or get a 4.5t.

I'd be lairy of a 3.5t with enough payload for both AND being built safely enough.
