Hi, I recently purchased a 7.5ton horsebox privately.. I was assured all was working but have found that none of the controls for the heating/water pump/radio/fridge seem to work in the living area even when hooked up to 240v. I cant figure out what's wrong.. the sockets work fine when hooked up and the roof lights work fine.. is there any horse box electrics experts on here that can assist.. it's an old lorry from 2000's.

thanks

We've got a motorhome, so maybe similar set up. Do you know where your fuse box is located, as it sounds as though a fuse(s) may have tripped? Often they are in a side locker or over a seat / sofa in the living.

Hi, I'm new to the whole thing.. we have a breaker box on the outside of the box that's for the hookup and there is a whole load of "car" fuses under the seating area where the leisure battery is.

Caravans and motorhomes have 12 volt systems and 240 volt systems. Without hookup you are using 12 volts from the leisure battery, so you could see if the fridge is working off 12 volts (the light will go on when you open the door). Then, sometimes, when you pug the mains cable in, the master switch in the fuse box trips, so you have to re-set it.

Or indeed the appliances you mentioned only run off/connected to the leisure battery?

An experienced lorry/horse box mechanic should be able to diagnose the issues?
