Just wondering if anyone has either had a box on loan/purchase hire or lease hire?

We had a box before on loan from someone which was most helpfull we kept up with maintenace and covered our own insurance and it kept her box on the road for her when she didnt need it.

Just wondering if people do do this or if we were just lucky to come across someone who had a box doing nothing?

I have also looked into Lease hire but you talking £800+ a month which would be cheaper to do get a loan and buy one but I dont think we want to commit ourselves to owning one just yet.

What are other peoples experiances?

Also in Soapbox - wasnt sure where to post

I'm afraid that was fairly unusual

In the same way that if expensive, people are unlikely to give you their expensive car to drive around in

Its all wear and tear and damage and dents, and even if maintained I would have reservations of someone not treating my pride and joy as their own.

Horses have a fabulous way of trashing your lorry - in the first 2 years of ownership I've had to refloor mine, replace a roof panel that was busted by one rearing, got feet marks in the eva from my polo pony.

I was offered a box off a friend, she reckoned me using it and keeping it running and maintained was better for it than having it stood, and she wasnt using it.

It wasnt really big enough though, so I declined. Someone else is loaning it now.

That was the reasoning for the last box we had, I am currently looking at the hire purchase route at the moment. Waiting for a quote back

Just looking at my options at the moment.

Hire purchase is simply a loan secured against the lorry - usually the rates are quite high and most finance companies now tend to make them credit sale agreements so you don't get the 1/2 & 1/3 rule apply for termination and repossession.
Lease is where you never intend to own it - long term hire and mostly on a newer box, hence why so much a month (also usually has VAT).
Particularly on an older box it might be cheaper and more effective to get a bank loan?
Plus with a personal loan you don't have to put a deposit in its purely on what you are able to be lent?
