I thought it was unbelievable that that man got community service for effectively thieving a huge amount of money. One woman lost £25K. No wonder people are fed up with a lack of justice in this country.

I know the article said he had no assets but that money went somewhere, and why couldn't a future attachment of earnings order be made so the victims could get something back when he works or comes into money.

I felt really bad for those people.

Agree it's a complete disgrace

It hardly puts off criminals/would-be crimianls, does it? Not much of a deterrent! I suppose it's something else that has been downgraded in order to reduce crime statistics....(I'm not cynical, by the way...!)

The Government haven't got sufficient room in prisons, at the moment they are releasing prisoners early to make room for others

I suppose some politician could find a 'good reason' for it

There's no room because people are fighting to get in there! They get free education, computer games, free gym - all their mates are in there -it's like a hotel!!!

Your post made me laugh, your probably right,

Like an ASBO badge of honour, you can only be in our gang if you've done time.

That was my lovly sister jo who sold the horse to WFP at least he wen't to a good home but it makes me sick that they won't get any money back !!

I feel very sorry for anyone that has lost money.

I must say that I fail to understand why people have horseboxes built without doing research on the person/company that they intent to get to build them?

Also why do they pay these rogues in advance? Reputable companies may ask for a deposit but the bulk is only paid on completeion.

The other thing is to buy the chassis cab and have it put in your name so that it can not be lost if the person/company goes bust.

Their only recourse is to take a civil action against them and get the court to enforce repayment of them from their income. They will probably never get anywhere near what they have lost back but at least have the satisfaction of knowing that every month these people will have to pay back a small amount for the rest of their lives.
