Hi.

Does anyone have any recommendations of horse breakers in Staffs? I have a 6yo that has been broken but turned away for 2 years and although I've done a lot of groundwork with him in apprehensive of trying to 'back' him myself as I don't believe he was done correctly the first time due to the time it has taken me to get him to accept tack. He hadn't been handled for 2 years when I purchased him

Thanks!
Kate

I would send Adorable Alice a pm, her Ted went somewhere to be started and they did a fantastic job with what was a potentially tricky horse that had a few issues, I have no idea where he went but she is in a similar area to you so it may be a realistic option for you.

Stephen Gee close to Ashbourne, thoroughly recommended. Kind and effective and honest with owners, and low prices compared to others. I don't have a contact number to hand I'm afraid.

I don't know her availability but somebody I hold in very high regard is Lindsay McCallum who is in Staffs. Incredibly sympathetic and skilful lightweight rider - I wouldn't trust many people with my new 4yo but she is top of my list, and I'm in Essex! You can find her on FB x

Second this, has produced some lovely looking horses!

Helen Wild at Buxton is meant to be very good. I've heard very mixed reviews about Stephen Gee, and used to see him regularly schooling people's horses, personally I wouldn't send my horse to him after what I've seen, but each to their own and I'm sure people have had good experiences with him. Daniel Kinson at Great Eaves Farm, again mixed reviews he's only £100 a week. A lot go to Daniel on a budget and aren't there for long, in 4 weeks he had them walk, trot, canter. His main rider is a very good jockey, makes them look easy. Again not sure I'd send mine there though.

Have heard Aileen Feeney is very good but no experience myself.
