Just wondering if there's anyone out there who has had a horse with cancer, or with large masses inside their body, specifically the leg?
My old boy just came back into work after a back problem & physio treatment, then went immediately lame in his left hind when he did anything strenuous, he has often been lame in his left hind but thought it was arthiritis & stiffness because of his old age & vet said that was most likely.
However he had a flying visit from another vet the other day (asked him to give him a quick check as he was at my yard anyway for another liverys horse) & he showed me he has either a large scar & some tumours or just one massive tumour/mass in his leg with a couple of smaller ones. Now it's pointed out it is completely obvious to me - when you feel it it is rock hard & you can feel the mass inside & the smaller lumps, it's now making him lame the majority of the time & his hair is not growing properly or in the right colour where the mass is. The vet is booked out in two weeks time to asses properly but just wondered if anyone knew anything about this & had similar experiences with their own horse?

Know i'm meant to write it in the Vetirinary forum but much prefer the new lounge! Sorry!

well i wouldnt wait 2 weeks. i would phone your vet now and book him in to view this week. tell him what other vet said. has he previously been scanned/x rayed? dont panic, but get this checked out asap.
