please help

everytime food touchs her mouth she flinches, like if someone flicks a nervous horse and they kinda back away.

phoned emergency vets and they said to keep an eye on her but i just keep thinking the worst.

she also said that they may have to run neurogical tests if she carrys on and that the lameness on her left side could be linked

any ideas/suggestions/anything would be great

when i left her she was eating, but its as though shes really angry at the hay and each mouthful she takes she toss' her head and rubs her head on her leg....

Its good news shes at least eating hay, so there isnt likely to be a massive blockage or something like that. As someone who left their horse who wasnt eating for a day+ cos they thought they were just 'off their food', and then had a case of colic and choke combined and a very sick horse (which vets initially thought was the nightmare of grass sickness :-O), please dont make my mistake.

Horses should not be off their food, they are designed to browse all the time except when resting. If they are they should be seeing the vet, pronto I think!

My horsey once had an ulcer on the side of her mouth (we all know how nippy that can be!) which ended up bursting, she was acting very odd - a bit like you described
Maybe just something simple like that.

Hopefully your vet/dentist will get it sorted in the morning....

Probably sounds very stupid but have you cut her whiskers? My mare wouldnt go near her feed or hay for a bit after it trimmed hers? I havent read all this post so if theres more to it sorry lol
