Hi everyone.
I'm new here.
I currently live in South Africa. But we are in the process of immigrating to new Zealand.
My question is... Will my daughter who is now 18 beable to have a successful career if she studies equestrian studies . She currently rides and does competitions and her passion is to work with horses. All her free time goes to riding as we lease a horse here .

My instinct, from the odd person I know who has emigrated, is that horse owning can be a bit more rough and ready and that implies to me that there are fewer equine professionals such as bodyworkers etc, so it may depend exactly what she wants to do. Hopefully our NZ residents will chime in.

And there's probably a forum like this for NZ, or at least FB groups where you can speak to horse owners directly.

I am in NZ your best bet for information would be to post on a NZ FB page, there is a busy one called NZ Horses, also there is another page which is called Equestrian Jobs NZ, have a look at that to get some ideas of what is available. I think experience is more important here than qualifications to be honest. There would be jobs available as grooms in all the various horse sports and heaps in racing both gallopers and harness racing. It is not as structured as the UK and as most of the horses live out there are less jobs. Also quite scary that anyone can set up as a farrier, trimmer, body worker etc, there is no need for qualifications. Also job availability will depend on area you settle too though some jobs would be live in.
