Just heard that all equine classes (ridden and in-hand) are cancelled on Wednesday and Thursday. Not surprising given that it is absolutely tipping down (again) but a great shame for all involved

Copied from their website.

After 3 months of unprecedented rainfall we have had to take the difficult decision to cancel the Great Yorkshire Show on the evening of the first day; after suffering a further 30 minute deluge this afternoon. Sadly the car parks just did not hold up and so for health and safety reasons we simply could not continue. This is a heartbreaking decision for everyone who loves the Great Yorkshire Show and is involved in making it so special.

Visitors - refunds will be issued for visitors who have bought tickets in advance, please send your tickets back to us with your name and address and we will organise refunds as soon as we can. Or alternatively you can keep the tickets and use them for the 2013 Great Yorkshire Show.

Membership – we hope our members will continue to support the Yorkshire Agricultural Society through this difficult period.

Livestock - we will be in contact with all livestock exhibitors and refund all entries fees for events on Wednesday and Thursday.

Tradestand – we will be in touch with all tradestand holders shortly.

Sponsors – we will be in touch with all our sponsors shortly.

Ooh, was hoping they might do that. Mind you, I had a free ticket offered by a friend as the person who they belonged to couldn't go - let's just hope she can't go next year either! :)

Just got back from the show and whole thing cancelled from tomorrow :( This summer has been bl**dy awful and I can see us losing a lot of equine/agricultural shows next year even if we have a 'normal' summer as people can't afford to keep losing money. Such a shame.
