Hi guys, I have been riding and working with horses for two years and fell in live with them from the first ride.
On my yard we had a girl who came and clipped the horses, I watched/helped and realised that this could be something I would really enjoy doing. I clip a couple dogs regularly but don't have my own horse to clip. I asked the owner on my yard and he agreed if I bought my own clippers he would let me clip his. After paying over £200, he let me down. I have been going to other yards and asking to clip horses free of charge just to gain some experience before I maybe start a small business, yet no-one has or will given me the opportunity. Is mobile horse clipping something there could be a market for, do people go outside there yard to find people to clip or am I just chasing a dream??
Thanks for your help in advance!!

I think there is a market but if you are inexperienced not many people will let you practice on their horses, I have seen the damage done by someone lacking experience, one of mine had his leg clipped at the vets, they left numerous cuts which became infected and took weeks to heal, another horse belonging to a friend had its elbows cut badly:(.
Getting good lines is not easy, if offering a professional service you need to be able to get a really good finish without taking hours to achieve otherwise it will not be worthwhile.
A local riding school may be willing to let you do their horses, they are often pushed for time and it will not be quite so important if the job is not perfect. Dont forget you will need insurance as well as endless patience if dealing with not so easy horses.
