Has anybody ever noticed a strange coincidence with their horses.
For example, I recently realised the initilas of my herd are BCDEF,
Then yesterday I took on an old donkey, small and grey and a real sweetheart. Four years ago today I lost my first pony, small grey a real sweetheart, both called Rosie.

Anything lick that happened with yours?

Yes I can go with this one. All but one of my animals have died in August, my mum died in August, I got married in August, had megga probs in August, and all within 10 days of each other (over the years).

When I was looking to buy my first horse, I was looking through the adverts, and started by circling everything that was right height, price, age etc, and started to make a couple of calls. Saw an ad for a 12 yr old grey arab x welsh, but for some reason didn't take too much notice of it. Someone said to me (non horsey person) "phone about that one, you will buy that one" So i did, and ended up with Zack who was an angel, and brilliant for my confidence.

Years later, long after Zack was PTS I was again looking for a horse, doing the same thing circling ads, at lunchtime at work, and someone (again, non horsey person) looked over my shoulder and pointed out an advert for a pony and said to me "go and see that one, you'll buy that one". So I thought this sounds familiar....what the hell!! So i phoned, went to see the horse, and bought spooky ..........who at the time was a 12 year old grey arab x welsh!! He helped me regain my confidence having totally lost it on the horse that I owned between the two of them.

Spooky story for a spooky horse - but all true!

Yep, my old horse Simon died on 3rd May 2006. We went looking for a mini and chose Inky who was born on 2nd May 2006. I always said Simon waited for my next pony to come along before leaving me.

I bought Inky ( miniature horse ) from Hampshire having found the breeders website on the internet. She was well known and every year she has sent me a calender that she has made from the minis she has had at the stud. I then decided to look for another mini. I went on horsemart and found one i liked in halifax but he was a mini shetland and was from a private seller. Went to see him and bought him. I then emailed Inkys breeder as we kept in touch, pictures of Ty ( new one ) and she emailed back saying she had had Ty as a yearling four years ago but sold him!!! And if i looked in this years calender, 2007 he was the mini, in her front room on July's pictures!!!! And so he was!!! So i had a picture of Ty in January, only decided to buy another in july and bought one i had in my calender without knowing!

Went to look at a NF pony about 30 miles away. Well he was a poppet and exactly what we were looking for. He had failed a vetting previously for being 1 point lame in a front foot. Vet said it wasn't a problem, but the prospective purchasers felt unable to proceed. I had reservations about buying him, but only because he was the first one we'd been to look at, but decided to go ahead anyway. I phoned up the breeder to introduce myself as his new owner. As he was Forest Bred (sired and born on the open New Forest) I asked whereabouts his dam had run. It turned out he had been born at the top of our road, so unknown to us at the time, we would have seen him running around as a foal. I just think that fate had a hand in things, and we were meant to have him! He passed a 2 stage vetting for us, it was meant to be a 5 stage, but he pulled a shoe off at the start of the exercise bit!

Oh, and he's been everything we could ever have hoped for!

A couple of weird ones.... When I went to look at merlin his vac certificate had the name Blackie on it (not sure why as he was called merlin...dodgy?)...... this was the name of the first pony that I looked after at the riding school and the persons surname was Humphreys...... the name of the second horse I looked after as a teenager!!!! (Humphrey named after the unigate Humphreys.... remember them)??

Wow, some great stories there guys

Any more?

My youngster Shadow had to be PTS tragically.
I'd always wanted a friesian, saw an ad for youngsters, rang, described what I wanted and she said she had the perfect horse for me - Shadow! Shadow was the same age as other Shadow exactly when I bought him and looks very similar (despite 1 being TB and the other Friesian). Went to see Shadow and his grandsire is called Rowalnd or Rowley for short which is where I keep my horses.
Fate?
Shadow Too is his show name but we've changed his stable name to Stitch - no connection.
Spooky I think!

When I started riding I used to always want to ride this horse called Beau, despite him being a bit of a poo I would still insist on it. I went on 2 shool trips to different yards to ride and BOTH horses were called Beau, 11 years ago we looked for our ist horses and we were looking for a sturdy cob for me, and then jst over 3 years ago I got Beau who was exactly what we had been looking for exactly 8 years ago - and even spookier is that he is an October baby, and we started looking in September so I reckon that someone ot there knew I wanted him so created him just for me.

How sad am I!!
