My horse had colic on Monday evening, crunching down to poo struggling and squealing in pain. vet came out and cleared an impaction, have tube liquids and cleared out a "pocket" In his colon.

He then had starvation for 12 hours then introduced to grass gradually once every 2 hours for 10 minutes. Passed plenty of dropping and wee that day.

Then this morning he colicked again. Vet came out, cleared some hard poo and found a lump in colon. Doesn't know if it will remain after impaction clears or if it will go down. Also had liquid paraffin.

Now he has been in stable on starvation for 12 hours and only passed 2 hard poos plenty of wee. Currently not showing signs of colic again or impaction against

Still not drinking a lot.

Anyone had anything like this? He's got plenty of water but not drinking. No idea what to do and it's killing me. He's 16 too.

He will not drink much if he is not getting any food so that would not worry me, when he is allowed food make sure it is really wet to get the fluids in, try not to worry too much you are doing right by getting the vet and contact them if you are at all concerned at any time that is what they are there for.

He is new to you so the colic may just be because of a change in routine, the last one I had that colicked needed his teeth rasping as he could not eat properly, worth getting them looked at next time the vet comes, good luck, hope he is on the mend.
