Morning

My gelding is fully vaccinated

Coughs once or twice at beginning of work nothing after , no stable cough , temperature fine

Should i be worried ? Just given current flu situation

Thanks in advance

how long has this been going on? what bedding and what forage is the horse on? how much turnout is he getting?

Take his temperature twice a day .
However lots of horses have seen suffering pollen driven allergy’s this year he may be senestive to something flowering atm .
I have a horse who is down atm we are waiting for blood work to come back .
If it gets worse you might have to speak to your vet .
I have one horse who is allergic to some tree pollens we don’t worry much if it’s a couple of coughs at the start of work .

My old boy always used to have a hack and a splutter, a snort & a cough or two, regular as clockwork every time we went out for a hack.

He'd always been vaccinated etc., but it was just his thing, just clearing his tubes and getting himself going.

He'd always do it; I did worry about him initially, but then realised it was just him being him.

this pretty much - one of my ponies has had a couple of bouts of coughing this year we think due to allergies - gave him a few days of ventipulmin syrup each time and it's cleared up well

My girl has been coughing too. On soaked hay and non dusty bedding. She got a bit snotty too which obviously terrified me. Shes fully vaccinated so called the vet. Turns out she was struggling with all of the fields surrounding us, being cut. The air really was so dusty. Wish i had thought about it actually, rather than giving myself heart failure. Almost no cough now at all and no snotty nose :)

Mine likes to have a bit of a cough and clear out his tubes when we start work. Mostly it's an exercise in unbalancing me and snatching the reins :)

Keep an eye and take temps, but I wouldn't panic. My girl coughs to varying degrees in the summer (every summer). Think she's a mild allergy to some pollens and often the dust in hay can set her off. I do dampened her haynets but sometimes they need a full soak depending.
