It happened in the aftrenoon. I was sat at my trade stand all day so not sure which class. I think it was a rotational fall

The organisers handled the situaution very well considering.

I know Georgie - whos horse it was - shes an ace rider and had partered the horse for years, (I grew up with her hunting and in the PC) Im sure she was well within her judgements at presenting the horse to the fence, Im sure it was just one of those tragic and horrible things. Poor girl there is seldom much worse in life.

It was just before 4.30pm at a Novice fence, the palisade with horse shoe.

We saw the screens round the horse as we were leaving, but I could see through the material a horse lying still on the ground and people sobbing.

It was awful

Oh **** - so that was 2 accidents yesterday then
frown.gif
Thankfully I think the horse & rider walked away just bruised from the first one. Hold on course was a good 30mins as the fence was broken pretty badly!

Thoughts go out to the rider

That horseshoe was only the 4th fence on the novice course too

Someone had a nasty fall in a PN section but think both horse & rider were ok, just bruised & stiff as the fence took all the force of it. Even so, horse falls are never nice

no - they're not nice at all! I wonder which fence that was though... My mum was talking to the fence judge at 15 who had said that his fence had caused hardly any problems (ditch to hedge thing)...may have been the trakener?

Hope those concerned are ok... Poor Georgie though

It was the hay wagon (like the mini Badminton one) so number 14 on the PN/OPN course (that corner was 13 wasn't it?). There was a hedge poss with ditch before that rather large trakener

I hate haywagons and that one was big for PN. Have seen them cause so many falls, was at Burnham market a few years back when a horse was killed at a huge one in the advanced.

Thoughts are with Georgie, what an awful, awful thing to go through.

Yes, the broken jump was the haywagon.

I guess they're the same sort of thing as the tables that Horse Trials used to produce.

Those were gradually phased out unless they were sloping upwards with a filled in ground line as the optical illusion made them just look like a pole off the ground.

i was competing at firle in the PN, and saw the fall as was just walking over to the trakener to see some of the Novice horses jump it. it was terrible and my condolences to the owner and georgie. i was told the horse broke its neck and died on impact as a result of its rotational fall. thank goodness georgie was ok. it was a tragic accident!

There was no fall at the haywagon - the horse just slipped into it and it broke. We were jump judging and observed the whole incident! The wagon jumped well all day.

RIP Just a mystery. Condolences to Georgie and owner of the horse.
