I’d say since the end of summer (so in the last few weeks) our pony has started to drink much more water than he normally does. I wouldn’t say it’s an unusual amount for a horse/pony in general but for his norm he is deffo drinking more.
He isn’t showing any other symptoms of being “unwell” and isn’t even urinating more than usual (not sure how that works!).
Unfortunately pony is 18 so around the Cushing/ ems age but before we move to blood tests etc does anyone have any suggestions? Could it be due to the change of season? He is getting more hay now the grass is disappearing, could that be a cause?
Thank you!!!

How much more? An extra 3 gallon bucket or so wouldn't worry me at this time of year. The wind has been quite drying and the temperatures mild for horses getting their winter coats. Also, is the pony in work?

I would say about 3/4 of a 3 gallon bucket? The mention of his winter coat makes sense too as it probably tied in with that! Thinking I may leave it a week or so and see if it settles down. Thank you! And yes, pony is in work but due to jockey being at school less frequently than over the summer!
