Horse driving south africa

Total tangent for both of you but when I'm in Cape Town, I usually start the day with an early morning walk

Or

Depending on whether I am staying in Constantia or on the Atlantic Seaboard.

If I'm in Constantia, I like to do Constantia Glen https://constantiaglen.com/

for wine and a charcuterie board. Their neighboring farm https://www.beauconstantia.com/?srsltid=AfmBOoqaMWsxdhzefkfYrsnsPsITGu5r6QrnsXrXkeapssofiGVmdKlK which has a great restaurant, Chef's Warehouse and incredible views.

There is also https://grootconstantia.co.za/ if you want a more historical experience, and
https://silvermistestate.co.za/ which also has the most fantastic food.

We often head over to Hout Bay to walk on the beach. It's worth popping into the harbor market if it's open

And then sundowners at https://www.dunesrestaurant.co.za/

And fresh seafood literally on the beach, if you like seafood.

If I'm in Clifton / Campsbay area then I'll do Clifton 2nd beach very early in the morning but avoid Clifton beaches, especially 4th beach, in the afternoons as they get very crowded.

And go to Llandudno Beach instead - it's nothing like Wales so that makes me laugh.

The Grand on the Beach is fun for cocktails

Or Bungalow https://www.kovecollection.co.za/the-bungalow/

And Cafe Caprice the original Camps Bay drinks spot.

And if I'm in the winelands then these farms are beautiful

And

Is more traditional but is a soft spot for me as it was in my father's family for many many years.

Thank you so much for that.I have visited South Africa a couple of times and it is my favourite country.

I am seriously thinking about spending next winter in South Africa. My son did his pilot training there, has many South african friends and contacts and is thinking of retiring there when his time comes.

We lived there last in 2014 but left due to the crime. We were in Johannesburg at that point though - well, Sandton which is near.

My in-laws are based between the western cape and eastern cape. I love visiting them in the eastern cape because it's just so wild and beautiful, and I love the reserves.

I would be staying in or near Cape Town.

I grew up in Pietermaritzburg, KZN and left in 2000. We try to visit every two years to see family about an hour south of Johannesburg. Two years ago we did a two week drive from there to Cape Town and back. It was amazing as we went on the back roads, visited all the little towns along the way. Did a lot of touristy stuff too.
