I have ridden my friends horse, approx 14yo, whilst she was on holiday, and it seems to, just occasionally almost buckle at the knee! That seems a bit of an exaggeration, but it's leg sort of gives way a little underneath it, but not enough to make it stumble or dislodge the rider, just so you can feel something not quite right. From on board I can't tell if it's in the knee, shoulder or fetlock.
The horse was previously unshod but has very recently had shoes but on. It was doing this before being shod, but seems to still do it afterwards.
Someone thought it could be that it's not wanting to put it's whole weight on it's leg incase it stands on a stone, being unshod, but surely that would stop once it's been shod or could it be habit?
It only seems to happen in walk, I've never had it happen trot, luckily!
Any ideas what could cause something like this?
