Horse droppings on the road!

My friends horse always poos in our village, one day there was a note poking out of the previous days poo saying, "clear up this ***** its disgusting!" she later on proceeded to run over the ***** and the note in her disco!

I don't understand why people choose to live in the countryside when they clearly don't like the goings on in the countryside. I wonder how some of these adults would react when their little Shanolas and Lambrinis decide they want to learn to pony ride...

So true! The man who lives next to the stables is ALWAYS complaining that he lives next to a stables. The yard and dairy have been there a LOT longer than this man. Why would you move next to a busy stables, if you hate them?! It baffles me.

I think Sallyg is right and people are getting mixed up due to the potential problems with dog and cat poo (toxoplasmosis). So instead of getting into an argument, might be better to explain politely to anyone who raises the issue that horse poo is not a threat to general health, that's why there's no need for us to pick it up. Then tell them it'll do wonders for their gardens. I just think there's no point in engendering any more of a "them and us" attitude - we already face enough problems when out and about.

People like that infuriate me, what a waste, I would LOVE it if I lived next door to a yard/dairy or anywhere where I could look out my window at real countryside rather than chavs, houses that all look the same and really badly executed graffiti

It's a beautiful house, over looks the field full of horses! I would LOVE to live in that house, just a few steps away from Neddy ^^
I'm lucky to also have a nice view from my house as I live near a farm, I often make friends with the cows over the fence :P
I just don't think people realise how good they have it!

Well reasoned advice Puddock, but I hope YOU are able to remember that when you're in a potentially dangerous situation and some idiot who has put you there is spouting toxic crap of their own...

pmsl at shanola and lambrini :D:D

Skint!, I was only kidding, I don't really pick it up :D

No, of course I wouldn't - if someone was behaving rudely or in a dangerous manner to be I'd just do whatever I could/needed to to get me and the horse out in one piece, just as you had to :) been in nasty situations with horrible people before, and it's not nice.

I was meaning more when you get the "excuse me, are you going to pick that up?" types - they're probably only asking because they don't know any better, so in that case a quick explanation could work, rather than starting an argument; if they turn out to be rude or nasty after explanation delivered, sod it and give as good as you get :D

I was helping out at the yard a while back and was hovering for someone on a hack in a group of competent begginers (kind of begginers, they can controll the horse in walk and trot independantly). We went up a dirt track to get onto our hacking route and obviously there were a few poops done :D On the way back an older woman with a buggy accosted one of the teenage helpers and had a right go about not being able to get the buggy past all the poo - there was loads of room to get round the poo! Maybe not in a straight line but the poos were all spaced out and they weren't spread accross the path or anything. We had stopped as this lady continued to moan quite rudely at this 13yo girl so I sidled up and - politely :D - apologised that she felt the poo had gotten in her way but explained that horses do tend to do it quite a lot. I also explained to her that we do go out and poo pick the path regularly but as the poos had been done on the way out and because we had only just returned, quite obviously had our hands full at that point in time. I reassured her that said offensive poos would be immediately scoured from the vicinity, again apologised for her inconvenience and firmly told the hack to walk on ha ha!
I was quite mad though because yes I do look quite young for my age (apparently) but I am clearly an adult. You do NOT go off on one at (in my opinion) a little girl! If she had a problem the right thing to do would either be talk to the nearest adult i.e me OR contact the yard directly and place a complaint there.
Some people just like to complain I reckon

:D I should think not! Don't cater to imbeciles!

I don't know why the heck I find it so annoying but I really do. I know SallyG and Puddock have the correct approach really. most people just don't realise it's not the same as cat/dog poo and we'd do well to get them on side.

I think most people have to have something to whinge at these days.

I rent a field that has a public footpath alongside. Today, I've been shouted at 4 times :D
And had people taking pictures of my mobile field shelters, so they can complain about them to the council :D (I'm on 1st name turns with the council now :D , and the RSPCA! :p )

A 50 year old woman walking her yorkie in her uggs boots shouted at me because it's muddy. And she's "been walking on this footpath since she was four and its never been this muddy!" But seen as I've been there 2 years, she can't walk there that often! :D and besides, both me and my horse walk upon the opposite side of the fence

People in my area don't like change, and quite frankly, they **** me off :D
