Horse Fancy Dress Ideas???

I want to do something original but struggling with any new ideas...

I dont want to do cowgirl/ indian/knight etc.

My thoughts were avatar and painting the horse and myself blue...but wondering if ill really regret that at the time!! Anyone think of anything amazing??? Ive got plenty of free time so will consider making a costume no matter how hard for horse and i!!

Well because I'm a huge dork and love Lord of the Rings and if I was in your shoes, Id totally be an tolkien elf - I'd imagine it would be fairly simple to do, elegance, flowers, fancy braiding, pretty robes, etcetc.
Stick on some prosthetic elf ears, proper ones mind you not ugly plastic ones - think latex is what the realistic ones are made out of? I don't think they're too expensive.

Or could just throw a black hood on and be a ringwraith, tho dno if that would work unless your horse is black also though if you was prepared to paint yours blue LOL....

Giant pink blanket on horse, Large black plate matts on horse knees,
steering wheel/ rein contraption was fun but caused havoc at the showground/ in the ring the other horses where horrified!!!
 
youu coudl dress up as a horse and you could dress your horse up as a vet and when i did fancy dress i dressed up as a mermaid and sat side saddle and waves either side of my horse and put shells on her
 
We did Wallace & gromit - rider as Wallace, a friend on foot as gromit & the pony as shaun the sheep! 1000 cotton wool balls stuck on a home made white rug, black socks on his feet/legs (he's a coloured!), a fluffy black tail guard & a white fly ear thing with the ear parts painted black & cotton wool on the rest- after 8yrs of annual fancy dress they actually got placed (2nd!) that year!!! http://m1092.photobucket.com/albumv...XbS+mf7/nmWUGLiXDoFRiQkEzoOaKEGQO2nxjlhQHgF4= xx
 
Saw an amazing one last week -olympic themed,
They had the horse dressed up as a dressage horse, white boots, white bands round the plaits and all, then the rider dressed in the proper top level dressage outfit, top hat, tails etc, then they had the trainer like person, with union jack jods, and carrying a huge union jack flag, then another person jogging in jogging clothes next to them carrying the torch! It looked absoloutley fab, mainy because they all looked so tidy! No loose ends or bits of material hanging off :D
 
Or seeing as you have a chestnut why not do a wizard of oz...back comb your horses mane to make it into a lions mane, or even make a proper lions mane, then dress as Dorothy and find someone's dog to borrow!:D
