While everyone is celebrating Laura Collets win at Necarne, please spare a small thought for the connections of Brookfield Fabio Diamond in the 2* ridden by Matt Wright. Having jumped a brilliant clear, with just six time penalties, the horse sadly collapsed after the finish and died of a suspected heart attack.
The horse had been with matt for a couple of months, having formerly been ridden by Chris King, and had improved with each run. He had done his best ever dressage on the friday to be fifth over night and then gave matt a fantastic ride cross country.
Apart from sympathy this post is also here to stress that in no way was this accident a fault of the rider, who in the opinion of the owner, had done a fantastic profesional job and made her quite excited again about future prospects for the horse.

Oh no poor horse, how sad for his connections.
I suppose there are always what ifs but the horse was experienced at the level and in theory should have been fine.
