I have a 15.3h Sec D gelding who lives off fresh air and is now currently looking rather to large! He is currently boxed and come off the grass completely due to his massive crest and fat pockets im thinking this could potentially be EMS as he ticks quite a few boxes for the symptons. He is currently having soaked hay for 12 hours and was on Naf Slim and Top Spec Anti Lam. Im wondering if anyone has had any experience of really good do-ers and what do you feed yours? Im now contemplating with the idea of Allen & Page Fast Fibre which has less starch and sugar than the Anti Lam. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Also those who have had a fatty on box rest what do you use for treats?

Straw. My fatties get straw as the main 24 hour access part of the diet and the hay is given expecting it to run out so that they snack on the straw before the next net. The only bucket food given is about 10 grass pellets, soaked, with a mineral supplement on top. If I need to give a treat it is a grass pellet.

Just stop giving him a bucket feed - long soaked hay or a mix of hay and straw should be plenty if he is fat. Your priority is getting the weight off.
He also doesn't need treats either, but if you must then please avoid carrots and apples as they are actually very high in sugar - a grass pellet could work but not many, or very few of the low sugar treats you can pick up in most tack shops.
