Hi there,

I am currently studying a HND in Equine welfare, behavior and rehabilitation.

I am currently working on my last project, focusing on the feeding behaviors related to feeding routine.
I have attached a link for the survey/questionnaire and I would be very grateful if you could take some time to fill it out please. This will give me valuable information for my final work.

Many Thanks

I really don't think it's a good idea to lump all ones horses together. Much better to ask participants to complete for each horse.

As owner of two full sized eventers and one elderly living out pc pony, it's impossible to find an answer that suits all three...

My three are so very different it would be pointless continuing beyond the number of horses I own, I have an elderly ISH x ID a mature arab and a young heavy weight cob

I did it, the average age was a guess and everything else allowed me to waffle in the boxes after the options, did it for the 10 in my yard as they are all on a similar regime despite being very different in type, age, work, I would have liked a question to cover "type" but from a general point of view they all have much the same routine.

OP has your supervisor seen your questionnaire? It doesn't really work as a statistical tool (I submitted an average and various random responses in order to get through the whole thing, but didn't submit it). You need to either tailor it so that it is filled in for individual horses, or so that multiple values can be given. Some of your questions do not make sense and some of the options are not exhaustive (you do not have options for, say, hunting or retired horses in what is the horse used for).

I only have three on the yard but they are all very different in type, age and workload, and what they are used for. Any feed routine/behavioural responses may be influenced by all of those things. Any responses I could give to your survey would not therefore be accurate or useful in your research.

I really think you should revisit your questionnaire design, speak to your supervisor, ignore any responses you already have and go again when you have redesigned it.

I'm a former equine lecturer and have a degree encompassing statistics and I'm only trying to help btw :)

Thanks for the useful info, very much appreciated. I have adjusted the questionnaire. Now each questionnaire is individual and can only be answered for one horse.

Some of the questions are also generic, to see what people points of views are on certain statements.

thanks for your info. Very useful. I have adjusted certain things and added parts. In the questions where a certain option is not available, it will have a "other" box, so people can add it in.

Hope its better now : ).

Thank you all for your feedback, it was very helpful. I have made some changes and adjustments. Now each questionnaire is based on one horse.

Some questions are there to see what people's opinions are about certain statements.

Many Thanks.

I completed, OP but like the others found that "average age" made a nonsense of the rest of the questionnaire. I have two youngsters and two oldies, so the average wasn't at all representative. They do all have the same basic diet and routine though.
