horse fell over in the snow !!!

i have been lucky up to now.horses have to be out daily,in at night otherwise they are a nightmare.despite the ice and snow they have been sensible.eaten hay quietly etc.today at bringing in time daughters horse cantered to gate and went down,hind legs under her.she initially stood up but holding a hind leg up .shes weight bearing now and walked ok up to stable so fingers crossed might be a bit stiff.as this weather has shown no sign of going not sure what else i can do.theres no where to ride or even walk out although might reduce the time theyre out,fingers crossed shes done nothing please.

Hopefully she'll be fine - a notoriously accident-prone TB at my yard fell over the other day on the ice (on tarmac!) and all he did was bump his knee slightly. The vet was out the next day for vacs anyway, so she had a quick look at him and said he was fine, no ill effects at all. I'm sure it'll be the same story for your mare!

hope your horse is o.k might slow her down a bit now, mine always have a hooley but fingers x and touch wood the most they've had is a sprain and are sound with in a few days, but if you find the horse lame for more than a few days get veterinary advice.

When I worked as a groom I saw one of the liveries horses canter around a really muddy , wet field and slip completely on his side and other than being a bit shocked and startled, he got up and was fine.

It looked horrific, and I was surprised he got up after a few seconds. I was getting ready to call vet as thought he would have definitely damaged something like a rib or caused internal damaged. He went down onto his side with an almighty bang, but was completely unscathed.

It's amazing how some horses are so robust and yet I always seem to get the fragile types, that always injure themselves, doing something stupid!

Idiotic welshX drama queen had a proper tantrum about a bird the other day (How DARE it look at him?!) as per usual, but this time almost went splat on his face and got a bollocking. After that he tiptoed back to his field, as good as gold, and has done since

One of my colts did this in the mud after the last "thaw"!
He landed on his side and slid straight under the lowest rail of the fence, stood up and look at us as if to say "Did you SEE that!!!" and then 12 hours later was stiff as a board poor boy.
Fingers crossed she is just a tad bruised and sore.

my filly did a four footed skid today - don't know how she kept to her feet - but I gave her a lecture about being her own fault for having to be stupid on leadrein lol - hope your needies leg is ok in the morning, may have just given it a bit of a jolt.
