Good evening, we shall be holidaying down in Northumberland at the end of June to our regular retreat. I often find myself a bit saddened that I'm not riding all week - especially when I see others out on lovely hacks! I have looked into it before but to be honest the riding centres I had a look at(judging by the horses, people and condition of the places) didn't warrant the £60+ they were wanting for a hack!
Does anyone have any recommendations?
Thank you in advance!

I spent a weekend riding with Kimmerston a few years back with some friends (all of whom I got to know here, but not active on here any more). It's great to a point. The horses are well looked after, and definitely not riding school plods. The one I rode did a fairly impressive 0-60 on the beach and I decided that it was easier to stick with him than not. Coming from someone who keeps their horses at home and ensures they lack nothing, it is a little rough and ready. On the way back from the beach for example, all the horses were loaded up, no partitions from what I can remember, and tack slung in the back with them. They provide hirelings to the marches rides. Keeping the horses sound and in work is important for business and I was happy from that respect, but...... it's not the way many of us keep our own. That said, they have been long established and have a good national reputation and we certainly had a good experience. We did both a moor ride (even crossed the border!!) and a beach ride. It's a stunning part of the country. A few photos.....
