Because I feel sorry for the horse - should be more sad than angry. Can't see any future for said horse now. x

On the news sites it says they will operate and although he will never race again he should be ok. Looked like the leg went before the fall to me

my old TB Dogged smashed his hock while in his BOX (it felt like a bag of marbles.) I never did discover how he managed it Horses can receive and cause themselves fatal injuries while doing 'nothing in particular'.
Not nice to see but it happens.
