just wondered what people have found best for these critters? everyone seems to have there own cocktail so just wondering if there is one main one that seems to work?

I've given up making fly spray - and opt now for shop bought ones. Pretty much anything with Deet in it will work. Although I know that people do have concerns over using Deet.

In a big two-litre spray bottle I have Cooper's, NAF spray (pink bottle) and a few drops of citronella oil. I top it all up with benzyl benzoate solution as a mite repellent and coat conditioner, and spray it on once a day. Quite a concoction but seems to be the most effective!

Around here anything you put on the horse is merely an appetiser for the damn critters!

Pepermint tea bags soaked in a large jug of hot water - allow to cool, add 10 drops of tea tree, citrollena & eucalyptus oil, put into a spray bottle, it's a brown colour but works a treat!
