A friend has sent me a photo on facebook of a coloured in a purple rug which was found on A20. My friend lives in Peterborough so I suppose its near her. I cant transfer the photo. Sorry.

you almost gave me a heart attack then as one of the horses I care for is a coloured in a purple rug alongside the A20 but the A20 in Kent and nowhere near Peterborough plus she was definitely still there this evening.

The A20 runs from Dover through to London alongside the M20 so is a very long road. It can't be the coloured I care for as she was definitely not missing this morning

Thankyou. Asking as there is a 12h mare missing that is coloured from the Dover area plus as I know alot of people further along the A20 it will help to have a rough idea which area of the A20 you are referring to. Happy to then share the link onto East Kent horsewatch for you

Hi there I have seen the pic of the horse on facebook, it is my horse Sampson who was stolen out of his field in Ash overnight on 28th. I dont know how he made it to the A20! They took his chaskit rug off and left it in the field but the purple rug and headcollar on him were taken out of my tack room! I still cant find who has him now and the police arent being very helpful. If anyone can help me i would be very grateful, ive tried messaging Abi Cott but she hasnt replied :(

I'm pleased the horse has been identified. I hope you can get hold of the person who has him and get him back home asap. Maybe someone on here is a friend with Abbi Cott and can get hold of her for you. Keep us updated. Just realised you said your horse went missing from Ash. That is a fair distance from the A20. I wonder why whoever took him turned him loose. The missing 12h was from West Kingsdown so not that far from you either. That also disappeared on the night of 28th.

It may also be a good idea to message East Kent Horsewatch on facebook as she can hopefully help you locate your horse. She worked for Kent Police so maybe able to help you locate Abi to find out more information. Disgusting that the Police are not doing more to help you.

Thanks everyone! Unfortunately this is the 2nd horse i have lost lately, my beautiful red blagdon mare Skye went out of my other field in Fawkham and was also found loose on the road. Unfortunately the police impounded her and i cant afford to get her back. It took me 2 days of them being really unhelpful and me calling every hour to discover they had got her and she wasnt still missing,(despite my name being on her rug nobody tried to find me, it was a neighbour that finally told me he thought the police may have her) then they told me 125.02 but i was to wait til the weekend to pay. I followed their instructions and paid at Ebbsfleet, they told me they would call in the next hour to arrange collection. Half an hour later they rang, told me there was an error and i had to pay another 700! As of a week ago the bill was at 1092.02! Im never going to see her again! I still have her 6 month old foal who was left in the field! So thanks for your help with Sampson - id moved him as i thought he would be safer. Obviously not!!

It says on east kent horsewatch that the 12 hand one is found.
Who do you have to pay this money to. I have never heard anything like it. Your horse is stolen and you have to pay. Thats terrible what will happen to your horse

I'd contact a solicitor if I were you. It sounds a bit odd to me. Having just located the pic of Samson on one of the horse pages it seems he was found in the Swanley area. It sounds like someone has a major grudge against you

Its payable to kent police as she is in their custody. It goes up each day and is non negotiable, i cant even pay in instalments. At one point they said it was so expensive because she had to go to a green yard in wales as there was no room here, then it was for a vet bill although they kept saying she was fine it was a standard exam. When i complained i was sent an invoice - 490 transport, 300 livery for a week 302.02 vet bill which included flu and tet vaccinations (which she was up to date with!), and they said she aborted a foal in their care. I said as far as i knew she was not in foal, (only had her a month) i have her foal that she came with at home but in any case this would be due to the stress of being shipped to wales! Ive given up now - it would be cheaper to wait for her to go up for rehoming then pay the adoption fee!

If a horse is found loose on a public highway then the police call a company called Greenways (or something like that!) and they impound the horse. You have to pay release fee/board from what I've been told.

ETD: Green Yard even ^ sorry to hear about your mare. Have to say it does sound like a grudge thing :(

I've not heard of the police charging the owner for returning a horse that was stolen. Had you reported her missing to the police?

Seems so ridiculous that you can't get your horse back due to red tape. Are you a member of the BHS, if so, they may be able to help.

Good luck, I hope you get her back.

If you've had two horse go missing from different fields it does seem that it could be personal so again, I'd give it some thought and talk to police if you have any idea who it might be

That is sad. I had a phone call one night from my daughter who is a PC about a horse that was on the road. I got my horsebox out and found and caught it. A local farmer took it in and the owner took 5 days to report it missing. They never offered the farmer a penny or contact me to thank me. I would still do the same again but a thank you would have been nice

Fingers crossed that you manage to get him back soon. A friend of yours commented on the photo to say she has also messaged Abi Cott and also not had a response. It is definitely worth getting in touch with East Kent horse watch on facebook. She does check in fairly regularly and may well be able to have more of an effect on getting a response from Abi or at least working with the police in helping you to get him back. I'd also still contact a solicitor for legal advice as livery charges etc were incurred because the police made you wait before collecting Skye.

I don't think Heathermac39 said that one was stolen? Just that she'd "gone from her field" so she could just have escaped. Sounds awfully heavy-handed by the police though. :(

Its funny because my sister mentioned this to me yesterday saying that she had seen this pony along the Maidstone Road, Sidcup opp the Drive thru McDonalds, on the grass verge with gypsy's holding it. It stood out to me because she said the rug was on back to front. When she came out from her yard, it had gone. My sisters yard is nr Timbertops So might be worth looking around that area as there a few around there along with many fields and gypsy sites on the bk roads.
Good luck with ur search and hope ur pony is found soon .
