Long story short, my horse colicked for the first time ever on Friday evening due to not drinking. He recovered and is generally back to his usual self... Except that he has gone off his hard feed.
He’s always been a very food oriented boy and not fussy in the slightest. He is happily eating hay (but won’t eat it soaked)... while this would be enough in the spring/summer, it isn’t enough to maintain him at this point in the year.
Is this normal for horses after colic, to go off feed? Should I be patient and see if he comes back to it, or should I try some other form of hard feed?
