I used to use hair extensions on a 2 year old horse I used to show in hand, He rubbed the top of his mane just before The royal welsh show so I glued some hais in with proper hair extension glue and plaited it up, looked no different, I was rather pleased,
Also as he was a coloured I used to add white hair extensions to his black tail, to really catch the judges eye

Someone put them in a horse at Ayr Show a few years ago... they came out in the ring!!!

A lot of M&M ponies have hair extensions where they have rubbed their manes. There is a company that makes them and many owners make their own.
