I kept a piece of tail hair from my pony who I heartbrakingly had to PTS a month or two ago (had him 27 yrs!). It's just sitting there in the tack room and I really need to have it made into something. Can anyone suggest something tasteful? Also, I'd like to get his old rossettes made into something for the house (I know you can get cushions, throws etc. done) - can anyone suggest who is good please?

I know friends who've had bracelets made from their horse's hair, really lovely. Don't know anyone who does it though, sorry!

I had a bracelet made by a company called Shpangle. They set the hair in resin and the clasps and links are real silver. I love it.

There are loads of jewellers now that do horse hair stuff. I still have the hair from my boy tragically PTS just over 2 years ago now. I can't decide which design! There is someone who makes cushions from the rosette tails. They advertise in the horse magazines. I did see someone make a whole bed quilt topped with rosette tails and sashes pieced together - but you need to win a lot to do that.

There's a page on Facebook, she also has a website called From The Tail Jewlery, she makes bracelets, necklaces, paperweights and other things from horse hair and there lovely.

If you have a decent jewellers near you who does bespoke pieces it is nice to design something yourself and it isn't always that expensive. I bought a spherical locket charm and the jeweller sealed a lock of my late horse's mane hair into it, then I just put it on a normal charm bracelet. I like the more conventional horse hair jewellery but in a way prefer this as it isn't obvious what it is.

I had mine made into a bracelet, i wear it everyday without fail. People always thinks its a pandora one as it does look like the leather one! I love it, it has some his random grey hairs running through it, it makes me feel close to him again in an odd way!

Mick at Shpangle is amazing and I have used him a few times for horse hair and rice jewellery, good value and beautiful quality products. My YO bought me a bracelet from From The Tail jewellery which is plaited and also very pretty :) Sorry to hear about your pony :(

I have charms made from both of mine which are hung on special pictures of them.
Like the bracelets but know I would wear it out. The charms should last for ever.
