I have owned my lad for just a year after losing my old boy last summer.
He was 8 when I bought him and had done very little.
His canter has always been unbalanced when on a circle. On the lunge he often disunites.
He was diagnosed with arthritus in one of his stifles 4 weeks ago after x rays and scans, injected with Hy 50 and put on a rehab programme for 4 weeks.
There was no improvement so he has gone to the vets today so he can have investigative surgery tomorrow.
I have told my vet that if they find something they cannot fix, or has a very poor prognosis, then they are not to wake him up.
My vet agreed.
I cannot afford a field ornament, he is a competition horse.
Have any of you been in a similar position?
The vet did ask me if I was happy for her to make the decision or did she want me to have her speak to me first, I asked her to speak to me first.
So hopefully when the phone rings tomorrow lunch time it is to say he has come round and is fine, and not the heart breaking one.
