Are they worth the huge amount of money?

I think that my boy would benefit from it, he seems to have some issues, and id like to know how to handle them, hes quite a nervous pony,
Has anyone had one out, and did it help? I know there must be some cons out there, but imtalking to someone whos supposed to be world known etc, she sounds genuine and sensible.

My sister does it - I always thought she was a bit weird

but then she "performed" on my dodgy knee and considering I was a total Unbeliever the effect was incredible. So then I let her do one of my horses

and he really did seem to benefit from it. She can do it long distance as well, doesn't need to be hands-on, she occasionally sends me bits of stone to keep about my person when she thinks I need them!

If your person has a good reputation I say go for it, can't do any harm after all, as long as it doesn't cost too much. Most of them are quite reasonable because they are doing it for the benefit of the animal rather than their own pockets.

Including mileage its over 100 pounds!
But im going for it, i think it will help him

I course the only date reasonably son she could do is the day before we have a 3 day show, and she says if theres like deep problems, they like to have a few quiet days....but ill just try to make shadow as happy as possible, and hope theres nothing too wrong with him...
Mothers not convinced

if it is reiki, then it can be really beneficial, it can help with emotional and physical issues. i normally send some distance healing before my first visit, i find it helps for when i meet the horse face to face. i have never met a horse that wouldn't let me get close, even the most nervous, but i take my lead from the horse.
hope it helps your horsey, i am sure that it will. it is not instead of vet treatment but can be used in conjunction with it. i ask the owner to run it by her vet first anyway. many vets are coming round to accepting reiki now anyway.
when you say huge amounts of money, how much are you talking about

Well huge in compared to chiropractoring
its 80 pounds a session, with 38pounds mileage, hopefully she'll only need to come once

Its this person. Im paying for it out of my own pocket because mums not convinced by it, but i think it makes sense, if phychologists work for humans then why not or animals, who must be WAY more misunderstood than people.
He does see to just have some issues...i can talk about them if you like...

i know her from another forum. she just says it is healing, i don't know if it is reiki or not. i must admit, she seems very expensive. i don't charge anywhere near that, but then again i am not world famous lol. has she said you will only need one visit? i have always seen a difference after first visit but it depends on the animal really. what is up with you horsey? did you have a look on my website, i am not touting for work btw lol, i am a long way from you

Haha, she hasnt said it will just be one visit, but im hoping, she says on the website she gives you some advice on how to follow up.
Basically, hes very nervous around new horses, he used to live in a small herd with his team (was a team driving pony) and some others, but only really had a relationship with one of them.
Hes quite clingy, to horses, and when free schooling to people, but in the field hes been known tokick, not so much at me any more, but can go for people if someone else goes to give him feed. Quite territorial.
If its possible for horses to have, i think he has 'low self esteem' when we had the shetlans, hed watch them all playing in the field, and it was likehe wanted to join in but couldnt.
Hes really fidgetty for grooming, and ive tried slapping him and making him stand, but it has no effect and it makes me feel quite bad as it obviously isnt doing naything to help him, he sometimes kicks out grooming, and hes sort of go to nibble you, and you turn around, and before you even raise your hand he immediatly shrinks away and looks terrfied, makes me think hes had a beating in the past.
He likes to scratch against you, which is painful so i dont allow it, but when i go to give him a rub he normally doesnt like it...
its just little things, he s[ends a lot o itme with his ears back, and one moment hes absolutly lovely, the next hes nasty

its getting worse the nibbling(and i dont let him walk all over me) and having no respect for my space and i think that it must be something bothering him.
Sorry thats very long!
Oh and when hes out of his comfort zone, for example i took him to an in hand show, which hes not used to, and it was in an indoor arena, he spent a lot of time rearing, and kicked out at the judge once and got incredibly nervous

I always struggle with this one especially being married to a Vet because they are scientifically trained so they have to prove everything and healing is something that has no scientific proof, however, I come from a family that were healers and my Grandmother being (apparently) on of the best in the UK always taught me that it was a gift and if a true healer could heal then they would not accept any form of payment, in fact my Grandmother used to get very upset if people tried to force money into her hand - I have yet to come across a story that tells me they have been healed for free!! apparently the old name was a Faith healer - this meant you were treating in good faith without any payment of money. Good luck in whatever you choose.

The alternative theory for that is that to be attuned to Reiki people pay £££, and in receiving reiki it is disrespectful not to give back to the giver, either in money or in kind, if you know what I mean. The healer gives his/her time and energy to the patient, who on earth shouldn't they receive payment? Especially if the healer chooses to want to help the most people they can - full time - what is s/he supposed to live from? Or are they supposed to hold down a job and family and interests and heal as many people as they can in their spare time??

Not trying to cause an argument, just putting across the other point of view. I have done level 1 reiki, (students are advised not to start practicing & charging until level 2) but I was taught that it is incredibly disrespectful not to pay for the healing. However I can fully understand why some people are reluctant to want to charge.

jcb, there doesn't seem to be a great deal wrong with your horsey, i think you are correct about the low self esteem thing. perhaps some past experience has something to do with it. i think some quality groundwork would be great and really helpful. if you send me a pic, i will send some distance healing which may help. this i will do for free,

db- i am a reiki master which has cost me a lot of money and time etc. i often do reiki for free, i do work for a few charities which i have never expected payment for. it is felt that anything given for free is not appreciated and that is why reiki shouldn't be given for free. i have had quite few that i have treated free and not even received a thank you. i probably do more work fot free than i get paid for.
i am happy to help where i can. however, i do have bills to pay etc. many reiki practitioners don't have the luxury of being able to afford to give their services for nothing. i also have to pay for my insurance, fuel etc.

send me a pic jcb along with his name and i will send some reiki to him if you like. also will need to know when he is at rest, ie not being worked.
