My friend lost her faithfull hunter a couple of months ago due to a fatal kick whilst out hunting, her dad is 72 and went out on him every week without fail. She now wants to start looking around for something for him so that he can get to know it through summer ready for next season. They are looking for something 15.2hh upwards any age considered, good to hack and hunt, the only thing is they have a budget of £2500 do you think it is possible? There are a few out there but most of them either have 'problems' or are 'not a novice ride'.
Any ideas on where to try or websites to look at would be great, we are in Notts/Derbys but she is willing to travel.

I found my horse in the local free ads of all places - sheer fluke. Although I paid significantly more for him your budget - there are always reasonably priced horses in that particular paper.

Maybe worth a look.

I think it is acheiveable, particularly if you are willing to take something a little older. People seem to baulk at the idea of getting anything over 12 or 13. As Amy May said, try free adds, or [put weanted adds in local RC news letter and tack shops. Good luck

Thanks for your replies, I will tell her to have a look in the local Ad's paper, it has suprise me looking on the websites what you can get for £1500!

Its possible, but you might have to purchase a few 'no goers' in the process, trial loan before you buy will be the best option.

I bought Norman through freeads.co.uk, how about adtrader.co.uk and also their yellow paper equivalents. Horsemart, horse exchange, other equestrian publications, tack shops, feed shops, word of mouth!
