The skewbald near Marseille didn't work out. Poor lad had awful conformation, and plaited front and behind in walk and trot, and was hesitant to pick up any canter lead.

I had to harden my heart and not rescue him from some very handed riding as his temprement appeared to be 100%, though difficult to tell from the 10 min video if very serene or zombied/shut down.

Since then I've sent enquiries for two more, both much more local to me. The first one was very disappointing, as I had sent a few emails, and got extra photos, and was just going to arrange to see him, then got a very short message to say he had gone back to his old owners, and the sellers have refused to communicate with me since, despite me asking for the original owners details to see if I could visit him with them... why advertise something for sale on the 14 March, if he was going to be sent back on the 18th March? Surely no sale could go that quickly?

Anyway, I've now actually been to see a very nice pony. He is 10 years old, but very green, as he was bought as a 3yr old for a beginner (  ) and they ended up scaring each other, so he basically sat in a field for 7 years. He was restarted last summer and has been doing a little regular work since, but the lady who is working with him now has no time to keep it up.

The pony was beautiful to handle, and although not ridden, has obviously been very well handled, and can be touched all over (incl, mouth, ears, sheath), he picks his feet up with barely a touch to the leg, and he is so light in the headcollar; will move over, back up etc with a touch and voice commands.

The only down side, is that he hasn't been sat on since Jan, due to the weather, so my test rider and I declined to take him for a road hack ( ), so the forward going plan is for the lady to continue to work with him over the next week or two, and then I'll go back to see him ridden, sit on him myself, and then the lady suggested I take him for a weeks trial, when I can get to know him, and work with him as I have access to an indoor school.

Of course the next couple of weeks are going to drag so slowly lol!
