Horse I Bred - Should I get in touch ??

Hi,

I bred a horse 16 years ago and sold him as a 6 year old to a friend at college.

I recently met up with her and she told me that she placed him with the Blue Cross two years ago due to a condition he had developed which meant he is allergic to his own sweat so cant be ridden hard.

She did say that if I contact the Blue Cross they will forward my details to the new 'adopter' and leave it up to them if they want to get in touch.

Do you think I would have much success or should I just leave him be? I have seen him now and again over the last 10 years but have tried to let his owner get on with it.

Just a shame to think I might not see him again and a bit sad as I saw him 'pop out' all those years ago

Go for it!
I always like to keep in touch with any of mine, whether home bred or not and I've found people do like to know you are still interested in them. It's also why I always put a short message in all the passports with contact details; so far it's worked on most of them and if they change homes, the new owners let me know.
 
Well I phoned up the centre and the lady was extremely helpfull - she knew who he was straight away!

I have now sent an email for them to forward with contact details and some info about him so that his new owner can get in touch if she wishes.

The good news is he is coping without his drugs now so can possibly go back to work properly, which is good as he never did like putting his feet up

When I had my ILPH pony her original owners got in touch and I was delighted to hear from them. It was lovely to see pics of her as a youngster and hear of her successes , and it was nice that they thought she looked so good for her age (she was 30 and lasted till she was 34 before she ws pts).
