Horse in lorry help please!!

Ok, i have just taken delivery of my lovely new lorry.

It's a rear facing one and as i carry youngsters, i had the bulhead raised to 5ft to make it safer for the young 'uns.

I put my Section D 2yr old in this morning, he stamped about a bit, sat back and put his front legs on the bulhead.

He's not frightened, just naughty and has been mischeivious since being a foal.

Question is, how can i stop him doing this? he's tied low (i have adjustable tie rings) and didn't do it when we were moving just when we stopped at lights.

I can't tie him the other way as he's too big and needs the neck room over the bulkhead.

Obviously i'm worried he will break his legs, so if anyone has an idea how to stop him PLEASE tell me!!

Could you travel with him till he gets used to short trips, and with a sensible pony for company.

I wouldn't travel with him. Highly dangerous! but a sensible traveling companion is a good idea.

I wasn't planning on travelling with him, it's a 3.5t and he would probably end up on top of me!

A companion doesn't make any difference, i tried that

Hi Jo, so glad to hear you got your new wagon and also sorry to hear of your problem.
Ive heard of this happen before or something similar as Im not sure what you mean by the bulkhead. It is a rear facing one isnt it? The ones I saw at Kents were the horse bit then the horse looked over the breast bar into the small grooms area.
If its what I think then I have seen them made with what look like anti weave bars to stop the horse going over the bar but also allowing just there head to go over.
If you do think about doing something like this though I wouldnt go for bars just incase he gets his hoof through the bar.
Have a quick look at David Murrays website, I think its a Pegasus box but they have the grills up. Its not a great picture but you can make it out.
Apart from your problem, how is your new box?
