With sooooo many insurance companies out there, how do you go about choosing which insurance company for your horse?

Is it all about price?

What is the most important cover you need? For me it is veterinary cover but I was looking and there were two different companies offering a similar quote but one offered a higher deductible and 10% of vet fees but also offered legal fees, the other company offered a lower deductable and no % of vet fees but also no legal cover, which would you choose.

Does it make a difference to you what type of number you have to call, eg 0845 or normal landline? Or is it all about the service that you get of the person on the end of the line?

Experience to sum it up, word on the grape vine .

1 Pet P very expensive
2 I Leisure lmao damn rip off take you money very hard to get money out of .when it comes to claim.
3 SEIB gr8 been with them more than 10 years have 5 policy's with them. Give u reduction on multiple policys
4 bankers direct similar to SEIB vets say only difference they are a little harder to get claim sorted .

They are the 4 I have had dealings with Horse Wise

car wise

ING a nightmare from hell

CIC no problem
Adrian Flux again no probs
Admiral ok

Off course price has a lot to do with it but reputation too

SEIB are brilliant but may not be the cheapest

also difference in cover some cover all the cost of things like MRI some only half (so you have to find over £500)

some cover travelling and stabling to horspital but not others

Both of mine are with NFU, no problems with them at all.
They paid out £5k vets fees for one horse and £2k for another, no questions asked.
