I have just recently bought a heavy cob who is going to be 2 in May, I have his passport back now and would like to insure him mainly for Vets fees! Already have rider insurance but may tag that in.

The next two years will be education, then backing, mainly hacking and take him to a couple hunt meets, then eventually when he is older all being well his job will be hacker/hunter.

So is there any insurance companies who you haven't had too much fuss paying out, I know they can all be pigs for putting exclusions on, but my main question would be, who should I enquire with and who should I strongly stay away from ie NFU?

cheers in advance

I've always been with Petplan Equine and they have been good. They took about two months to sort the last claim out, but they came good in the end. They didnt dispute it, just needed some stuff clarifying....their customer service is always good on the phone as well.

Have you tried Amtrust? Touch wood, I've never needed to claim, but I know people who have and they are very complimentary.
