Gotta love NFU

If you do a quick search, there are lots, and lots, and lots of threads about which insurance companies people use and recommend

I am with Millin and they have been amazing.

I tried NFU a year last June (renewal time) and i called them 5 times to try and get a quote but because my insurance value was over £5k i had to ring this other number, i did that and left countless messages and no one ever got back to me so i decided that if i could get hold of them to give them business then what chance did i have if i was making a claim.

I work for an insurance broker and use Towergate AIUA for mine.

I've dealt with claims for other people and they seem pretty good at settling although 'touch wood' not had to use them for me!

I use Amtrust Equine. They are the cheapest for what I needed due to their classification of work. Most of the other companies have 7-10 classifications of what the horse will be doing. Now I mostly just hack - which is a low classification, but i also want to do the occasional hunter trials and spon rides including the jumps. I spoke to several of the companies, and if I wanted to insured whilst doing these things, I would have to go up to a higher classification level, and hence a higher price. Amtrust have only 3-4 (as I remember) classifications, and I only came to the second I think, which included what I want to do. So it worked out at the best price for me. Also they have a great rep for being knowledgable and paying up without complaining. I have found them very helpful and would recommend without a seconds thought.

as i've not put recommend me someone to insure my horse with i just wondered who people used. as so far i've heard of two companies i'd not heard about before. also a couple have put E and L.
to the people who voted E&L would you mind pm'ing me your view on them please.

Am with and will stay with NFU.

My friend was with E&L. When she had to have her vet out who heard it was E&L her response was "oh no" !!

just moved to NFU after recieving my quote for this years insurance - never heard a bad word about them, have increased my cover for tack etc, and knocked £300 off my insurance.Rang straight through, and was dealt with very professionally. E&L - do not touch with a barge pole. I had my horse insured with them for 7 years and when i went to make a claim (nervicular) they argued it was pre-exisiting? and ALL my vets have had the same reaction. They are cheap but good luck in actually getting any money out of them in the event of a claim. I have not met one person who has had a good experience with them.
