I'm looking for cheap but good insurance for my 14hh haflinger pony.

I basically just want vets fees, death/theft/straying, public liability and tack covered.

Pony may be about to go on loan which is why I want him insured.

I know a certain, oft advertised, company known usually by its initials are to be avoided but I saw a company of line called Horse-Insurance.co.uk which seem very cheap - are they any good?

I've gone with SEIB and NFU mutual in the past as well and found them good.

What recomendations do you have?

There have been a few posts on the horse-insurance one - many saifd to avoid - you'll have to search

I use SEIB for my three and also for my lorry (sadly now deceased) and found them pretty good - you have to stand firm on their attempted exclusions, but othert than that I can say my experience has been positive

From Horse-Insurance.co.uk 's website;-
"Horse-Insurance.co.uk is a scheme administered and underwritten by Equine & Livestock Insurance Co. Ltd. (Registered in England & Wales no. 294940) which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority (FSA register number 202748). Equine & Livestock Insurance Co. Ltd is also a member of the Association of British Insurers and the Financial Ombudsman Service."

I use PetPlan for both my horses and have had to claim for both of them in the past and had no problems at all with either claims...

I would recommend them, and they are not expensive - nor did they up my premiums after the claims :)

Hmmm, you know I had a funny feeling about horse-insurance.co.uk - there was something about the website that reminded me of E&L and I wondered if they were linked.

thanks for confirming that for me.

PetPlan is the one I use for my dogs, will have a look at them. I've found SEIB good but not the cheapest... NFU don't do online quotes but will call them tomorrow.

thanks
