I ride a few horses for YO. On Thursday (I think I was bucked off one of his (no problems previously). Today I rode him again and the barsteward tried again. TWICE!! The second time he bucked the length of the school (it's a BIG school!) and I have NO idea how I didn't fall off (I did swear uncontrollably the whole time

) He never does this with anyone else! I wasn't carrying a whip and whilst I WAS wearing spurs, everyone rides him in spurs. I've noticed him stiffer to the left, so wondered (and suggested to YO) that he might be in pain, but if he were, surely he'd try to buck everyone off? YO and YO's wife witnessed both murder attempts and have NO idea what could've set him off.
Ideas???

Sounds like there's something about the way you ride that he doesn't like! Have you got an electric bum? Mega strong legs? Forward seat? Maybe a lesson on him with a top notch instructor could pin point something?

I did wonder about that or if I was working him harder than other people (YO- also my instructor- tends to let me school and then jumps him himself) but today I was intentionally riding him quietly, gentle contact, etc. I've been riding him since March with no probs. Also YO is a bloke and much stronger than me so I can't imagine having stronger legs than him

I don't think I've got an electric bum; Antifaz is VERY buzzy (as was PF pre-pregnancy) and they go quietly for me...

Is there anyway that he could be ridden by someone else for 10 minutes in the school, then swap over and you get on and see if there is a sudden change, rather than noticing a change on a day to day basis (or however long the period is between his usual work where someone else rides him then you do the next etc) if there is a pain issue/trapped nerve etc then it might not show all the time, are you working the horse in a different way (more circles or bending etc) where it might bring it on...if there is a problem that is.

Its not often horses hold personal grudges with people unless that individual has realy done something to the horse or if there trying it on with a novice etc (not saying you are either of those of course, just explaining a point) so you might need to try something like the above to rule out any possibility.

I didn't think it was really personal personal

more to do with the way I ride him. Last Thursday, when he bucked me off, the YO got on him and rode him normally... We've got a show at the yard this weekend and he's being tried out... I'll be watching him like a hawk!!

ha ha no I didnt think it would be personal personal..although it could be your perfume lol!

I meant rule out any possiblities that it could be back related by the differnt ways that people might be working him in the school (tighter circles etc)...that could cause twinges or remind him of what brings on pain...just random thoughts.
