Horse jumping on tack locker

So my lovely 5 year old, jumps on the tack locker, only done it on a couple of occasions once also got over partition and second time just on the locker. Safety wise I just can't risk it and we can't travel more than 30 mins. So we are either getting our locker removed or changing the lorry (off to view some Friday)

My question is anyone else who has had this problem once you changed lorry did you have any further problems, or did you change to a trailer etc?

Hi sorry to hear this very frightening for you. yes i have heard of this before. I also have a horse that used to jump the breech bars or burrow under. I know horses that have jumped over.

Changing your mode of transport is one option and it is certainly important to look at safety regarding how you manage a horse with worries about travelling. Although can you guarantee your horse will always be able to travel in that one mode of transport their whole life or will it be better to help them adapt and learn to travel calmly in what is presented to them in case of sale, transport share or emergencies?

What i would be doing as a priority though is seeking someone who can help give you some ideas on how to deal with travelling issues in horses and anxieties and teaching your 5 year old how to travel well and calmly without feeling the need to get to the point that it trys to jump out other wise its like travelling and unexploded bomb and always worrying an accident is going to happen, which won't be good for either of you and also will not help your chances of achieving anything at the end of your journeys due to the stress of it all.

It may take some time to retrain your horse to travel calmly or it may be a simple solution that can be found. I hope you find a solution to your dilemma and stay safe, good luck.
 
Thank for your reply, im not one for a quick fix, ive had her 2 years and we take her out weekly on short journeys, so weve spent a fair amount f time trying to get her used to it. she travels and loads like a lamb not stressed one bit, but out of the blue when she feels like it will be up on it, I think it's just one of those things she's going to do and a habit shes got in to. she's been in a few transporters no problem so I'm hoping changing lorry will solve problem, just wondering when others have changed it have they been ok going forwards, or have other problems come out of it
